Mohawk Solid Rock
A Christian community for Mohawk College students.
All are welcome. There’s room for you.

Get Connected

Wednesday evenings, 6-8pm
Every Wednesday evening we meet for a relaxed hangout around food and discussion. We start with a delicious dinner and then move onto games, prayer and conversation about our faith and the world around us.
We meet in the MSA Lounge, G010, across from the Urban Fork seating area.

Social Events
We connect regularly for special events, like games nights, cookie baking, hikes, or parties. We also host prayer events, spiritual retreats, and worship services. Follow us on social media or email us to learn about upcoming events.

Pastoral Care
Our chaplain/director, Melissa, would love to connect with you over coffee, the phone or Zoom. Please reach out any time if you have questions, concerns, are looking for community, or just want to chat. Email her here.

About Solid Rock
Mohawk Solid Rock is a community where students come together to build relationships, to grow, to support each other, and to serve the community. We provide a Christian campus ministry where college students can connect with each other, connect with God, and connect our faith to our work and the world around us. We are an authentic group of people learning to follow Jesus. All students are welcome to come and connect, just as you are.
Mohawk Solid Rock campus ministry started about 12 years ago under Dr. Michael Fallon’s leadership. It is now led by our campus minister, Melissa Kuipers. Solid Rock is supported by a volunteer committee–including a Mohawk college faculty representative, alumni, local clergy and members of local churches. Our campus ministry is funded by the Christian Reformed Churches of Classis Hamilton, as well as the generosity of donors.

About Our Director
Melissa joined as Mohawk Solid Rock’s chaplain (or campus minister) in January 2021. She has served in campus ministry at Western University, and has spent many years serving in children and youth ministry. She has also worked as a teacher at both the secondary and post-secondary levels, teaching at Niagara Community of Christian Schools, Redeemer University, and Tyndale University College. Melissa has a BA from Redeemer University, a Bachelors of Education from Western University, and a Masters in English from University of Toronto. A writer of fiction and non-fiction, Melissa is a regular contributor to The Banner Magazine. She lives in downtown Hamilton with her husband and two children. When she’s not hanging out with Mohawk Solid Rock, she can be found baking bread, hiking, crocheting, singing, or binging sitcoms on Netflix (while multitasking with one of the previously mentioned activities).
